And just carry on

Another fan art, this time it's V for Vendetta's main character, appropiately named "V". This Graphic novel was created by Alan Moore and David Lloyd and was recently taken to the big screen with mixed reviews. I made the model mixing elements from the comic and the movie and some of my own inspiration too. It's a reproduction of an original panel from the novel, book 2 chapter 1 "The Vanishing" The caption is the original ballon from the panel, scanned and pasted in the composition

The cloak and the shirt below the belt are done using cloth simulation. Tthe image was rendered in layers using Mental Ray for the cloak, mask and body, while the wig was rendered using a regular software render and later composed with the other layers in Photoshop. The background is a simple image created in photoshop and used as image plane for the main camera.

So that's pretty much it, I hope you like it.

At Midnight, All The Agents

This is my first submission to this gallery, It's called "At midnigth, all the Agents" and it depicts the title panel of the first chapter of the Watchmen, it is also the first time your get to see Rorschach's infamous mask.
I had a hard time doing this because of the background, I had to work in layers and composite the whole thing in Photoshop because it was imposible for me to pull the smoked effect in the window panes and still have the glow effect in the background skyscrapers in just one render. What I like about the piece is the way the rug looks and the coat and pants simulation.
This scene belongs to Watchmen, by Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons and John Higgins, a *comic* book from the mid 80's published by DC comics that changed the way comics were seen by the general public, giving it a never before reached depth and significance that is yet to be surpassed by other authors. Together with Frank Miller's Dark Knigth Return, Watchmen signaled a widening in the range comic creators were allowed to move. So far the results have been endless amounts of copycats and a general shift from the comic industry into a more dark / twisted approach, giving root to controversy about the original audience comics are aimed for, children and teenagers, and the audience publishing houses tend to focus more nowadays, young adults and collectors. Despite all this, Watchmen has been named recently one of the most influential books of the last 100 years by Time Magazine, and its rumored movie adaptation continues to provides endless discussions to fans everywhere.
Done with Maya 6.0, Textures and Compositing with Photoshop, some textures taken from google searches, Playmate picture belongs to Playboy.
This one's for Alan, Dave and John, my friend Gustavo who gave me the gift of Watchmen twice and for the good fellas at the Vivarium. Cheers

a weird character

Something I did 3 years ago aproximately, it was done in Photoshop for one reason, I don't know how to use ink and I wanted to do classic comic art. SO after doing the pencils I scanned it and then remade the entire drawing with a mouse, something i don not recommend to anyone. The Morningstar was done entirely with photoshop, which is nice since it gave me the chance to give a lot of details to the chain. Drawing is my first artistic passion, it's nice to share some of my efforts with the CG community.
